We planned our small (85 person) West Texas wedding from afar at the Gage. Michelle and Meagan worked with us from the jump to book fabulous videographers (31 Films), photographers (The Nichols), and the best wedding band anyone had ever seen or heard (The Mott’s). The venue appealed to us both for sentimental reasons but also because it was a one stop shop. Michelle and her team took care of every detail for us from linens to flowers to food and cake. It made wedding planning for two busy professionals a breeze. The flowers were stunning, the food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly accommodating. All of our guests stayed on site and loved the accommodations - the rooms are comfortable and well appointed. All of our guests remarked at how seamlessly the day ran. If you are considering getting married anywhere near Big Bend, I can’t recommend the team at the Gage enough.
This is an amazing place to stay when in Marathon! Lots of history, comfy beds in nicely decorated rooms, great service, great restaurant, bar, and coffee shop. A nice park out back with lots to do like corn hole, horse shoes, volleyball, giant chess and checkers, or just relaxing in their lounge chairs under the pergola. Nice outdoor pool, wish they had a pool bar open though. Didn't use the spa or fitness center, but they have 'em. Check out Gage Gardens across the railroad tracks, it's beautiful and a nice place to go birding. If I'm out in West Texas again near Marathon I'll definitely stay here again!
I can’t recommend the Gage hotel enough.
My partner and I went to the Gage last November on our way back from Big Bend.
We had breakfast and peaked at the gift store. We found this beautiful silk scarf. My partner was visiting from France. It quickly became her favorite accessory to wear. She came back to Paris and unfortunately lost the scarf recently. Not only did the staff helped me find the scarf and accepted payment over the phone but they sent me a lovely card with the package. It really touched me. They were incredibly kind and helpful.
Customer service and care at its best! Thank you so much!
The Gage Hotel is a great place to stay especially when headed into Big Bend. We only spent one night, but loved it, and wish we could have spent longer! The hotel, people, amenities, ground, views, food … everything was lovely! And don’t miss out on enjoying the beautiful garden! Highly recommend!
Absolutely gorgeous hotel complex with exceptionally beautiful furniture and decor, with many pieces reflecting the rich history of the building.
The entire main building and grounds were immaculately clean.
We had a standard queen room within the historic main hotel building - it was spacious and very comfortable, and decorated as richly as the common areas.
We enjoyed drinks and our own food out in the fire pit area, one of several available outdoor sitting areas.
The service was exceptional. We’d like to give JB and Jamie a special thanks for looking after us so well, and going above and beyond to make us comfortable and happy. We very much appreciated both of them. Thanks for a great experience. We would love to return some day.
